Disneynature’s homage to the Earth, five years in the making and fittingly entitled earth, is headed for the theaters this spring.

In anticipation of the opening on Earth Day, April 22, Disney has released photos and clips from the movie along with a list of trivia notes and facts about the film and some of its 42 animal subjects. Wildlife featured include cheetahs, the world’s fastest animal with top speed of about 70 miles per hour; demoiselle cranes, capable of flying at altitudes of 25,000 feet and Great White Sharks, the world’s largest marine predator.

The film, narrated by James Earl Jones and directed by Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, who created the Emmy Award-winning Planet Earth, follows three animal families.

Disneynature, a division of The Walt Disney Company, is the first new film label to be launched by the company in 60 years. It was created in 2008 to produce first-run environmental films, reviving an early tradition at Disney, which made 13 narrative nature films in the 1940s-50s that won several Academy Awards.
