Meritage Homes, a large production homebuilder active in the Southwest U.S., has expanded its green home offerings to Texas.
The new Meritage green communities in Fort Worth and San Antonio will offer home buyers Energy Star-qualified homes that feature spray foam insulation and water-saving plumbing fixtures, among other features.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program is partnering with American Water, the nation’s largest publicly traded water services provider, to launch the national “We’re for Water” campaign that will coincide with peak water use season in many parts of America.

If you want to save something, try water. It’s going fast. Depletion of the U.S. water supply isn’t something you can argue about. It’s visible, measurable and predictable. Since 2005, every U.S. region has been short on water, and use increases annually. Even New York City has experienced drought in recent years.
