Thanks to the recent Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, the subject of climate change has been in the news and on the minds of academics and world leaders. But how does the average person feel about the phenomena of hurricanes, floods and droughts?
Dr. Sara Alexander of Baylor University attempted to find out just that. Alexander, an applied social anthropologist, conducts most of her research in Central America. In this case, she studied households in several large and small tourism-dependent communities in Belize to find out how the natives coped with sudden weather-related shocks.
