ExxonMobil Green Team provides environmental internships for Dallas area students

From Green Right Now Reports

The ExxonMobil Green Team celebrated the start of its 28th year in Dallas by creating a learning area around a large pecan tree within the Great Trinity Forest for summer camps and classes taught by the Trinity River Audubon Center.

As one of ExxonMobil’s signature community programs, the Green Team concept provides meaningful work experience and educational opportunities for Dallas-area high school students from low- to moderate-income families.

“While many high school students are taking the summer off, the Green Team members will be completing a professional internship, attending college-level courses and learning how to positively impact their community,” Truman Bell, senior program officer for education and diversity at the ExxonMobil Foundation, said in a statement. “We are proud of the commitment they’ve made to themselves through this program, and eager to see the great strides they will make during the next eight weeks.”

The ExxonMobil Green Team is administered by the Volunteer Center of North Texas and ExxonMobil supports the program with a grant of more than $230,000, which funds student salaries and administration expenses. The ExxonMobil Green Team is currently in place in eight cities including: Torrance, Calif.; Chalmette, La.; Clinton, N.J.; Paulsboro, N.J.; Beaumont, Texas; Dallas; Houston; and, Arlington, Va.
