“We can really have a substantial impact. Small changes by large groups of people can have a profound impact,” said Scott, who’s discovered he actually sleeps better with the thermostat turned down and has begun experimenting with alternative power sources for his media equipment.
The contest is sponsored by the Sierra Club, San Francisco Environment and Scott’s non-profit One Atmosphere. Winners for biggest volume electricity reduction and biggest percentage reduction will get $5,000; other prizes will be awarded to winning schools and neighborhood groups. The contest runs for one month from the Oct. 25 start.
