NFL Scores Green Initiatives For Super Bowl

January 18th, 2008

“I don’t own an airline. I don’t control the price of a ticket. I don’t own a paper pulp company, so I can’t control the price of paper.” Each industry needs to accept responsibility for their part in protecting the environment, he says. People are not going to voluntarily offer to offset these costs. The individual industry needs to do so. With the Super Bowl, the NFL is not solving all the issues that come with the production of greenhouse gases. However, they are reaching a compromise and that’s a start.

“You have to draw a line. Perhaps we can offset team travel with some of our green initiatives. As for fan travel, that’s something fans will have to address on their own.”
