Make it Fresh
8. It’s hard to overlook a mom’s love of fragrances that make her bath, wardrobe and presence a sensory delight. Turn to online purveyor of natural body products, Pharmacopia, for Rosemary Bath Salts or Organic Lavender Body Lotion.
Another scent-sation: Demeter Fragrance Library’s new line of natural fragrances called Vintage Naturals that use essential oils of roses, lavender and other blossoms to create some of the first affordable perfumes. These serious scents are just out at Sephora. Mimosa is nice, but mom might be more of a Rosebush or Lavender gal.
9. Looking for something cuddly? Yumi & Laurie sells beautiful natural blankets, called BlanQuettes, made of organic cotton and bamboo. They’re plush, and they’re the priciest thing on our list, but Y&L is having a sale.
And here’s one for new moms — the baby BlanQuette.
Say it with recycled
10. Last but not least, don’t forget the card. Make your mother a card out of recycled paper, or things you have around the house. When grandkids are available, a collage might be in order. Or have them take a funky, impromptu photo of each other or themselves. Mom will love the personal touch, and maybe even hang it on the refrigerator again. If you choose to purchase a card, look for recycled paper.
Toasttowomen.com, which advocates against underage drinking and drunk driving, is offering free e-cards this Mothers Day. With every free e-card sent, Clos du Bois will donate $1 to WomenHeart, an organization devoted to research, education, and promotion of women’s heart health. Each e-card you personalize and send cuts down on paper and benefits a good cause.
