Not so long ago, trying to find natural or eco-friendly shoes was a time-consuming exploration. No longer: Terra Plana’s mens dress shoes are locally sourced and made of recycled materials (as much as possible). Yes, it’s leather, but it’s tanned using vegetable extracts, $203 (above). It’s a little easier for women to get eco-fashionable shoes. The pretty but walkable goodies from Beyond Skin include a kicky black hemp shoe with a red faux patent (no PVCs here) band, $285 at Green Loop (below).
InhabitatShop has a nice line-up of more casual eco-friendly shoes (we like the Melissa line, particularly the Ultragirl Vazada Flocada). It’s made of Meflex patented non-toxic plastic and velvet and is “ethically made in Brazil.” $79. And, for both of you, check out Mooshoes — vegan shoes and boots for her and for him, all cruelty-free. The Blondi from Olsen Haus ankle boots, below, are $240.
