Samsung Electronics America has launched a new line of LED-backlit monitors that are created to be ecologically responsible throughout their life cycle. The company says users of its 50 Series monitors can save money on their electricity fills and save landfills from hazardous waste.
With their LED technology, the displays each consume up to 40 percent less energy than same-sized CCFL backlit monitors. The 50 Series LED monitors also contain no mercury, halogens or volatile organic compounds, so they are fully recyclable.
The monitors, which go on sale in July, are Energy Star 5.0 rated and will be available in four sizes: 20 inch (BX2050), 21.5 inch (BX2250), 23 inch (BX2350) and 24 inch (BX2450).
