Pilot is the third-largest pen manufacturer in the world, according to the company’s website, and has a substantial green effort, Be Green: Positive with the Planet. All of Pilot’s green products are at least 70 percent recycled industrial waste material, the packaging is recycled and every type of pen Pilot makes has a green counterpart, Pilot says.
All of the green products cost the same or less than “non-recycled counterparts.” The G-Knock retractable gel ink pen (above) is 81.5 percent recycled and costs $2.09 and the RexGrip rolling ball pen is $1.65.
ProjectGlo pens (below) are made of biodegradable cardboard and PLA/corn plastic. A pen is $2 (5-pen minimum). All money from sale of the pens goes to education-oriented non-profits, such as Youth Action International.
