An investigation of water issues by an Austin writer and environmentalisthas revived the tactic of shaming high water users like celebrity bike competitor Lance Armstrong to make a point about water conservation in the drought-stricken state.
Paul Robbins asked the Austin Water Utility to release the records for the top residential water users in Austin for fiscal 2011, which just ended Oct. 30.

ICLEI USA, an association of mayors and local government leaders, has sent a delegation to the Cancun Climate Conference (COP16) to let negotiators and other leaders know that cities have an important role to play in fighting climate action.

Mayors from around the world recently met in Mexico City to discuss ways to curb greenhouse gases.
The delegation will be delivering the Mexico City Pact, signed by 138 cities at the Mayors Climate Conference, held in November in Mexico City. The signor cities have pledged to address climate change at the local level.
Mayor Patrick Hays, City of North Little Rock, AR, Corporate President and Chair of the Board of Directors, ICLEI USA and Martin Chávez, Executive Director of ICLEI USA and three-term mayor of Albuquerque, NM, are leading the delegation to Cancun. They will join hundreds of local government representatives from across the world gathered for the two-week conference that hopes to further global agreements around climate change.
