The federal government clamped down on the burgeoning alcohol-energy drink business today, with the FDA issuing warning letters to four makers of these drinks.Health experts say the mix of a depressant, alcohol, and the stimulating caffeine, causes people to miss cues that they’re inebriated.
The drinks, which are typically fruit flavored and appeal to young drinkers, have been blamed for at least one death and many more overdoses.
In it’s finding, the Food and Drug Administration, said it was not persuaded by the makers claims that the drinks are safe.
