Edmunds says green cars are moving quickly off the lots

May 17th, 2011

The Nissan Leaf is the quickest turner on lots.

From Green Right Now Reports

Green cars are the hot sellers right now, according to the latest data from Edmunds.com. The service looked at “days to turn” — the amount of time it takes dealers to sell a new vehicle.

Edmunds.com says Nissan’s new electric Leaf in in shortest supply at 5 days. Not really a surprise there since the entire production run has been pre-sold, so each car is picked up quickly.

But other green models are also moving quickly. Lexus’ CT 200h had an 11-day wait, as did the new Fiat 500.
Hyundai’s new 40-mile-per-gallon Elantra has a 12-day supply. The Mini Countryman moves in 16 days, Chevy’s electric Volt goes in 18 days and the Prius in 20.

Here is Edmunds.com’s list showing the days to turn for April 2011 vs. April 2010, plus the mileage rating:

  • Nissan Leaf 5, N/A (99 mpg)
  • Fiat 500 11, N/A (29/35 mpg)
  • Lexus CT 200h 11, N/A (43/40 mpg)
