Poll: Voters strongly support solar power

A survey of likely 2012 American voters has found that they overwhelmingly support solar power, with nine out of 10 saying the U.S. should develop more solar power.

The survey, conducted by Hart Research in early September, also found that 85 percent of voters view solar power “favorably” or “very favorably;” and 78 percent said that the government should support the growth of solar power with incentives.

Poll shows public still takes a shine to solar power

Nearly 90 percent of Americans say it is important to develop solar power in the United States, according to a survey about American attitudes toward solar power released today.

Americans of all political affiliations also strongly or “somewhat strongly” support continuing federal subsidies for solar power, according to the fourth annual 2011 Solar Barometer Survey conducted by Kelton Research and commissioned by Schott Solar and theSolar Energy Industry Association.

Solar industry thrives with government support: Will it be renewed or extinguished?

Rhone Resch, the CEO of the Solar Energy Industry Association is once again explaining the need for certain government subsidies to sustain the growing solar industry, in this case a Treasury grant known as the 1603 program.
Resch calls the program “the single most effective policy driving renewable energy growth during the past two years,” which saw a doubling of solar industry jobs.

Could everyone get a U.S. tax break except for clean energy?

As Congress and the White House negotiate the details of the tax breaks for the middle class, and the tax breaks for the wealthy, and the payroll tax break, the clean energy lobby appears caught at the door of the party.

Industry leaders are sending up flares to constituents and the media, warning that pulling the plug on clean energy incentives would hurt job growth and the nation’s ability to compete globally in the fast-growing clean energy sector.

Several tax incentives that the wind and solar industries depend upon to spur investment are set to expire, as well as certain rebates for home energy efficiency improvements.
