Twenty great, green decorative items with stories to tell

May 29th, 2009

18. A big cork bowl: The 12″ wide handmade bowl (above) is of renewable, natural cork harvested every 10 to 12 years from cork oak trees in China. Bambu makes it, and they work with partners who show they practice environmental protection, fair labor, health and safety. It’s from Inhabitat Shop and costs $68.

19. A strikingly framed mirror: The Patchwood mirror (above) from Almost Exclusive is made from reclaimed building materials. Colors and the distressed framing vary from piece to piece, but you can pick from five color palettes. The smallest size, 3 feet by 3 feet, is $287 and the largest, a 5-foot-square, is $678.
