Junk and jetsam, heirlooms and gems — reusing old stuff can be fun

Old boxes can be quaint, but their prices could make you faint.

If you’re seeking one-of-a kind items, the trip to Round Top can be worth it. Take this assemblages of old boxes. Your typical antique shop might have one or two to sell. At Round Top the collections nearly topple off the tables. Dealers save all year (or half a year) for this biannual show. Reuse? These boxes can give modern containment a whole new kitschy appeal. No longer viable for trucking purposes, they’re still practical for home use. (Don’t think this clever idea comes cheaply. Expect to pay $70 to $130 a box.)
