SolarGorilla – power your laptop

This solar charger doesn’t mess around. It can power your iPod and your handheld games, but more importantly, it can juice your laptop, and when you get the PowerGorilla accessory, you’ve got the ability to store the solar energy. Ideally, you would collect the solar power and charge your laptop while it’s off, which might take four to six hours, said Chris Pesce, an owner of Earth Tech Products in Long Island, N.Y. When you are using the laptop you would use the solar panels to charge the PowerGorilla, thereby collecting power that you could use later, at night.  “Some people don’t think about that, and they say ‘oops, what about nighttime?’ said Pesce, whose company just picked up this item for retail in the North American market.

EarthTech Products also sells an array of portable solar chargers — not to mention other conserving gifts like the energy assessing Kill A Watt device and motion sensors that automatically turn off lights for the truly zealous energy scrooges in your family.
Solar Gorilla is available from EarthTech Products for $239.85
