World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF)
Location: N/A (or Across the world)
Camp Type: Year-long service opportunity
Age group: Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
Started In: 1970s
Why we love it: Because it’s an amazing opportunity to escape the madness and reconnect with the basics of life. Volunteers for the program work four to six hours per day, five to six days a week on a host farm. Hosts grow food organically and generally try to live a low impact life. The U.S. directory includes around 975 organic farms to choose from, and volunteers work out the details of their stay with their hosts.
