From Green Right Now Reports
Lili Taylor and Amy Madigan will be in Philadelphia later this month to shoot the indie film Future Weather, according to Philly.com. The film is a drama about a girl who becomes obsessed with helping the environment after she is abandoned by her mother. It stars 13-year-old Perla Haney-Jardine as Laduree, a loner who takes refuge in nature.
Producer Kristin Fairweather told Philly.com that she and writer-director Jenny Deller have partnered with local businesses to have a sustainable film set including organic, locally sourced food. The movie’s web site notes:
One of our key aims in getting Future Weather in front of audiences is to raise awareness about global warming now. To do that, we feel we must endeavor to balance our desire to create an environmentally-friendly production with limited amounts of time and money. We decided that a realistic approach for us is to take as many green actions as our budget permits at all stages of the film’s production. The four main ways we can do this are to conserve energy, reduce emissions, renew materials, and choose local whenever possible. This green production experiment will lay the foundation for Green Behind-the-Scenes, a guide we will create for film and videomakers about how to make sustainable production choices.
