"Think Recycle": Turn In Old Phones For Cash (Save Them From Dull Life With Socks)

Where’s the last cell phone you used? Chances are it’s in the desk drawer next to you or wrestling with some old socks in cell-phones2.jpgyour dresser. You know you aren’t supposed to toss it in the trash. It’s not biodegradable (though believe it or not scientists are working to rectify that). So how and where to recycle the thing?

You can turn it in to certain retailers, including the major wireless companies, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon, though they were roundly criticized in a 2005 watchdog report for their lack of enthusiasm for this issue.

So here’s another idea: Turn your dusty old cell phone into cash for your school or charity group.
