Occupy Philly, part of the national Occupy protests breaking out nationally, is concluding its first week and has logged more than 15,000 followers on its Facebook page, according to a statement from participants.
The statement from “the 99 percent” seeks to assure people that Occupy Philly is “a safe family environment,” and is preparing to continue the encampment at Dilworth Plaza outside Philadelphia’s City Hall at least through the global day of action set for Friday, Oct. 14.
It notes that food is being distributed 24 hours a day and that occupiers are preparing for rain showers with “long-term infrastructure,” and “comfort stations” are distributing rain gear and sleeping equipment.
